Listen Up, This is Your Boss Speaking
A lot of fuss is being made out there about people getting obnoxious in their attempts to be heard on Health Care and other issues. There have been a lot of people getting very loud and sounding very frustrated. Some of the actions and verbage have even been reported or viewed as threatening. The thing is, while there are certainly some very heated emotions in this debate, What has to be understood is that a little yelling is understandable at this point. Read the rest of this entry »
The Content of our Leader’s Character.
August 28, 1963, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. uttered the famous words: “I have a dream that my four children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character.” We have not arrived at that point universally, but massive strides have been made. There are a number of issues on the table in the political arena right now being hotly debated. Health care is, of course, the main one, and the opposition has been very strong. The startling thing is that opposers of the health care proposals have been labelled by some as “racists”, saying that they only oppose the measure because it is being presented by President Obama, who is black. And it is a clear indication of the focus on racism by those who claim to oppose it. Read the rest of this entry »
Do You Really Care?
I know you think you do, but do you really? The normal stated purpose of this blog has been to reach out to other libertarians and libertarian leaning persons to help them with their philosophy, strategy, thinking, etc. I am breaking from that today to reach out to those who support state-ism. Those who think government programs are good, necessary, wise, and compassionate. Those who claim they care about those in need. I ask you again, do you really care about those in need, those who suffer?
It is easy to look at the world around us and see people in need. There are many. It is also easy to say that “someone” should do something about it. It is also easy to look to the government to be that “someone”. The government is full of people making promises and ready to do what you demand in exchange for your vote without regard to the cost. They don’t care about the cost because it is not their money. It is easy to forget the cost because, for the most part, it is not our money either. It is the money of the rich, or so the government people claim. Read the rest of this entry »
Why I Support Open Immigration
There are five key reasons I support and open border policy in America (or any free nation). This subject is one of the primary areas of disagreement I find myself in when talking to many other constitutionalists, conservatives, and conservative-turned-libertarians out there. I have always been confused by what seems to be an inconsistent position when compared to their other reasoning. This, as with most of my blog posts, is an attempt to present my reasoning to these and others to not only let them see as clearly as possible my own perspective, but to hopefully elicit a response from them that may either show the weaknesses of my reasoning or enlighten me by showing errors I have made in reasoning or fact or perhaps even guide me in strengthening my own position. I always have a little apprehension when posting something like this, as so many people whose opinions I respect and admire disagree with me on this subject. Perhaps I am just missing something, we shall see. So, without further digression into my emotional state, I will lay out my thinking. Read the rest of this entry »
